We provide beneficiaries with the tools and support to cope with their trauma via individual and group counseling.
LIFE SKILLS COACHING
We host workshops and training sessions for vulnerable women on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, human rights, disease management and sexual health
We equip women with the skills and resources needed to manage small businesses by providing entrepreneurship training and small micro-credit loans.
We train our students in sewing, embroidery and quilting and create a community of women engaged in a therapeutic environment.
Following the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, Jeanne Mwiliriza made it a regular practice to organize groups of female survivors to share their stories and provide one another with emotional support. In January 2006, Jeanne founded Tubahumurize Association with the vision of empowering female victims violence in Rwanda. Today, Tubahumurize Association serves survivors of violence and other socially and economically marginalized women including: genocide survivors, victims of gender-based violence, women living with HIV/AIDS and other critical illnesses, single mothers, grandmothers and orphaned girls heading up households. Many of our organization's beneficiaries fall into several of these categories. We provide a safe, supportive, female-centered space for women, group and individual trauma counselling, life-skills coaching and gender/human rights education, healthcare education and support services, vocational training, and opportunities for sustainable income-generating activities. To date, Tubahumurize has assisted over 1000 women through our programs. We currently serve about 450 Rwandan women and, indirectly, also support about 1,050 dependent children.
